Winter/Spring 2014 Fresh Meat Training
Posted on January 21, 2014
The Rideau Valley Roller Girls are recruiting for the Winter/Spring 2014 Fresh Meat training which begins on February 7th and runs through April 2014.
There will be a mandatory Information session for this Fresh Meat program held on Friday, January 31st at 7pm at Neon Skates (285 St Patrick St. in the Byward Market.) Please register for this session by e-mailing our Fresh Meat committee at: freshmeat(at)rideauvalleyrollergirls(dot)com. There is no obligation to join the program, this session is free and for information only.
Our Fresh Meat program is designed to build new and novice skaters, as well as, potential new referees up to a level where they can safely join in at our regular league practices. This is a safe and welcoming space for skaters to develop their derby skills before mixing it up with the hard hitters. Occasionally new or novice skaters do so well in the program that they are fast-tracked to joining full league practices if they are able to pass the WFTDA minimum skill requirements.
- No experience on quad roller skates necessary
- We will train you to skate, stop, hit and whip safely
- Accepting women and men 18+
- Must be willing to work hard & fall hard
Fresh Meat practices during the Winter/Spring 2014 session will be held on Friday nights from 9:15-11:15pm in Hintonburg, however there will be additional practices and free skate time. The cost of the Fresh Meat program is $200, to be paid in 2 instalments.
Our awesome Fresh Meat coaches will be on hand at the Information Session to answer all your questions about this program and our league but you can also contact them at: freshmeat(at)rideauvalleyrollergirls(dot)com
Hope to see you there. Join us in the awesome adventure that is ROLLER DERBY!
