OVRD is back at practice rebuilding our strength and skills after being off skates for so long. Our skaters have been moving through the return-to-play tiers outlined by the WFTDA at their own pace and comfort levels. We are currently running full-contact practices for those who have moved through the necessary tiers and who feel safe doing so.
We are in a rebuilding phase as we do our best to recuperate as a league from the losses of the past two years. For the first time since 2019 we were able to run a Roller Derby 101 session in the summer and we will be running another one starting September 24th! In terms of bouts and scrimmages, we are cautiously optimistic about being able to scrimmage this fall 2022.
We know that the covid-19 pandemic is not over and that many people still cannot go back to the activities they participated in prior to the pandemic. To do our best to try to ensure the safety of our most vulnerable community members, OVRD league policy is that all skaters must wear masks at all times except to hydrate, and that all skaters must be fully vaccinated.
If you have any questions about roller derby, are interested in skating, or want to get more information on our league, please feel free to email Board@OttawaValleyRollerDerby.com
