Double Header on May 18

Ottawa Valley Roller Derby will be presenting our season opener on Saturday, May 18th – 2 flat-track roller derby games at St. Laurent Complex.

In the first game, the incredible players of Ottawa Junior Roller Derby will be facing off against the PARDy Juniors of Peterborough. Our second game will feature the first game of our House League teams. New for 2024, our adult players have been split into 2 full-contact teams: Valley Cats and Street Rats. They’ll be facing off all season culminating in a final house league championship in August.

Tickets $15 – available at the door (Kids 10 and under get in free. Limit 2 kids per adult, please).

Old Ottawa Technical High School – Mustang Gym (440 Albert St, Ottawa, ON)

Gear:
All skaters must wear a helmet (skateboard or hockey, NOT bicycle), knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, roller skates, and a mouth guard. Skaters must also have knee pad covers (can be specifically made or you can use knit hockey socks pulled over the knee pad).

Gear rentals are available for skates, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards but each person needs their own helmet and mouth guard.

If you are thinking about buying your own gear checkout our local roller derby shop Rideau Rollers or Montreal’s Lowlife MTL. You can also take a look at their stock to see examples of gear that is appropriate for roller derby and roller skating. Gear can also be bought second-hand through a variety of gear-selling groups on facebook.

Cost:
The cost of the session is $170 (not including $50 insurance fee) with financial aid available if required. As this fee goes directly towards our venue rental costs, it is unfortunately NOT refundable. It can; however, be rolled over to future 101 sessions if you are unable to attend the fall session.

** PLEASE NOTE: In addition to this registration form, you will also need to register for WFTDi skating insurance under “Annual Membership” ($50) though this link: https://www.wftdicanada.ca/auth/signup
