Free Ottawa Junior Roller Derby Game – June 10, 2017 at St-Laurent Complex

The athletes of Ottawa Junior Roller Derby are excited to showcase the future of the sport with a free exhibition game on Saturday, June 10th. The members will be split into 2 teams and go head to head in a short low-contact flat-track roller derby game.
We’ll have an information table and sign-up sheets if you know someone aged 9-18 who is considering getting in the sport. No skating experience necessary. We’re always looking for kids and teens who want to learn how to play flat-track roller derby, to improve their fitness and, most of all, to have fun. Founded in September 2013, Ottawa Junior Roller Derby (OJRD) is a non-profit league open to boys and girls.

The skaters of OJRD play a modified and low-contact version of modern flat-track roller derby. This is a safer version of the gameplay using the regulations established by the the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. Harry Potter Trivia Night – May 31, 2017

Quick, who says, “Y’er a wizard, Harry”?
It won’t take most Potterheads more two seconds to get that one, but you will need to sharpen your wand skills before our Harry Potter Trivia Night! Join us on at Hooley’s Pub (292 Elgin St) on Wednesday May 31st at 8 pm for a fun night of trivia. In addition to the House Cup, winning teams will take home RVRD merch and free tickets for any of our games.
Focused on the books, our trivia night has FOUR rounds:
1) Hogwarts, A History
2) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
3) Quidditch Through the Ages
4) Advanced Potion Making
This event is only $5 per person and open to all. Teams should be no more than six people. No pre-registration necessary. First come, first served. (That’s if it gets really out of control like you witches and wizards tend to do.)
Until the 31st, we’ll be working on our “Accio answers!”

Roller Derby Triple Bill on Saturday, June 3rd

RVRD presents the second of it’s home team round robin events of the 2017 season on Saturday, June 3rd at John G Mlacak Community Centre in Kanata. You don’t want to miss a minute when the doors and beer taps open at 6 PM. The first of three games kicks off at 6:30 PM.
This is family-friendly and licensed event. Feel free to bring your camping chairs for maximum comfort inside the beer garden. Just make sure to bring your I.D. so that you can partake in the fine craft beers, ciders and coolers that will be available for purchase.
