Roller Derby 101 – Fall 2026 Session

The next session of Roller Derby 101 will begin September 2026.
Be First to Know: Fill out our ROLLER DERBY 101 2026 INTEREST FORM and we’ll let you know when we’ve ironed out the details.

Who?
All genders ages 18 and up welcome! No previous skating experience required!

What about gear?
All skaters must wear a helmet (skateboard or hockey, NOT bicycle), knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, roller skates, and a mouth guard. Skaters must also have knee pad covers (can be specifically made or you can use knit hockey socks pulled over the knee pad). 

If you are thinking about buying your own gear checkout our local roller derby shop Rideau Rollers online or in person at 787 Somerset St. W. You can also take a look at their stock to see examples of gear that is appropriate for roller derby and roller skating. Gear can also be bought second-hand through a variety of gear-selling groups on Facebook.

Last Roller Derby Double Header of the season on August 16

Racers ready! Our last set of full-contact roller derby games are roaring to go at the start line at St. Laurent Complex on Saturday, August 16th. For Game #1, Roller Derby Sherbrooke is driving down to face our B-level travel team, the Ottawa Valley Riptides. In Game #2, the House League Championship will be decided when the currently tied teams face off for the final time. The Valley Cats are pitted against the Street Rats. Who will take the 2025 House League Championship?  

BOUT PROGRAM FOR SATURDAY AUGUST 16 (See the roster of players, and learn the rules)

Tickets $15 – available at the door (Kids 10 and under get in free. Limit 2 kids per adult, please).
St. Laurent Complex (525 Côté Street)

The doors open at 5:00pm, and the first whistle will start the game at 5:30pm. As always, this is a family-friendly and licensed event. We’re serving Broadhead Beer as well as various ciders and hard seltzers in the Beer Garden starting at 5:00pm. Don’t forget your ID, and your camping chairs because alcohol is not permitted in the tiered seating.

Start of game #1 – 5:30pm: Roller Derby Sherbrooke vs. OVRD Riptides (Travel B-Team)
Start of game #2 – 7:30pm (approximately): OVRD House League CHAMPIONSHIP Valley Cats vs. Street Rats

Get ready to hit the controller! We’ll see you at St. Laurent Complex for the last time this season on Saturday, August 16th.

Roller Derby Double Header on July 26

Ready to play again? So are we! Another set of full-contact roller derby games are loading at St. Laurent Complex on Saturday, July 26th. For Game #1, the amazing Roller Derby Quebec is coming to town to face our A-level travel team, the Ottawa Valley Rapids. In Game #2, the House League Battle continues as the Valley Cats go up against the Street Rats. Will the Rats secure another victory or are the Cats on the comeback?
