Seeking Coaching and Management Staff

The Rideau Valley Roller Girls are seeking coaching and management staff for both of our all-star teams (A-team: Vixens and B-team: Sirens)
We are looking for:
The Rideau Valley Vixens (a Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association Division 1 Team) are soliciting applications for coaches and managers for the 2016 season. The Vixens won their Division 2 playoff tournament in 2014, moving on to a 2nd place finish at the WFTDA Championship tournament in Division 2. In 2015, the Vixens played their toughest season yet and advanced through the rankings into a Division 1 playoffs tournament spot.
The Vixens aim to improve their rankings in 2016 and looking for coaching staff to help them achieve their goals. The Vixens are looking for 2 coaches to share the coaching responsibilities. They are also seeking management staff keep the team organized and tackle the responsibility of statics tracking and analysts. 2016 will soon be here and the Vixens want to be ready with new coaches and managers before the season begins.

We hope to announce selected coaches and manager(s) by November 17th.
Vixens skater tryouts will be held on December 1st and 5th, 2015.
VIXENS COACHING STAFF
The Rideau Valley Vixens are looking for 2 coaches for the 2016 season.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Local Ottawa Valley resident to serve as coach within a team of 2 coaches and 1-2 managers
- Coordinate the delegation of responsibilities to the Team Captains, managers and other team members
- Develop rosters and lines with other coaches and management staff
- Plan, implement and control pre-game preparation and communication with your team
- Design team practice plans in consultation with RVRG Training Committee
- Coach the team in all games and practices
- Give skaters feedback throughout the season
- Motivate the team
- Establish rules for the team and oversee the supervision of the players
- Ensure all team members uphold the rules and regulations of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA)
- Coaches and managers will abide by the league’s Code of Conduct and participate in League meetings and League votes as per RVRG membership requirements
- This is a volunteer position; you will not be paid. RVRG will help cover the costs of travel and hotel for away games
QUALIFICATIONS
- Coaching OR athletic background (Roller Derby/skating background or experience a plus)
- Strong communications skills
- Interest in the sport of roller derby and staying up-to-date with latest strategies
- Strong interest and commitment to athlete development
- Ability to work with fellow coaching personnel
- Ability to communicate on-skate and off-skate requirements to players and administration
- Availability for practice Saturday evenings from 7-10, Tuesdays 8-10pm (practice dates subject to change). Note: the practice workload can be shared between the 2 team coaches; however, if both of you are unavailable, you will be responsible for finding a suitable replacement
- Availability to travel to away games throughout 2016 season.

VIXENS MANAGEMENT STAFF
The Rideau Valley Vixens are looking for 1-2 Managers for the 2016 season.
DESCRIPTION
- Local Ottawa Valley resident to serve as a manager within a team of 2 coaches and 1-2 managers
- Help coaches with team organization
- Track attendance and assist coaches enforce attendance policies
- Book accommodations for travel games and arrange car pools
- Stat tracking and analysis
- Researching the stats of upcoming Vixens opponents and relaying the information to coaches
- Assist with development of rosters and lines with other coaches and management staff based on stats research
- Share stats research with skaters throughout the season
- Assist coaches with establishing rules for the team and oversee the supervision of the players
- On game day, helping make sure the team is organized
- Third turn coaches and stats analysis during games, counting points, tracking jammer lead percentages, penalties, etc.
- Ensure all team members uphold the rules and regulations of the WFTDA
- Coaches and managers will abide by the league’s Code of Conduct and participate in League meetings and League votes as per RVRG membership requirements.
- This is a volunteer position; you will not be paid. RVRG will help cover the costs of travel and hotel for away games.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Roller Derby and/or sports management background
- Strong communication skills
- Interest in the sport of roller derby and staying up-to-date with latest strategies
- Strong organization skills
- Understanding of stats or interest in learning to interpret them
- Ability to work with fellow coaching personnel
- Ability to communicate on-skate and off-skate requirements to players and administration
- Availability for team meetings and coach/manager meetings
- Availability to travel to away games throughout 2016 season.
