Vixens Rock D2 Playoffs
By Wreck Therapy
Sitting track-side on the unforgiving concrete, most of us screamed ourselves hoarse as we watched our Vixens skate their way to become the champs of the WFTDA Division 2 Playoff games held in Kitchener-Waterloo at the end of August.
In the gold medal game, the Vixens took on Bear City’s Berlin Bombshells (Berlin, Germany) and kept fans on the edge of their seats through several lead changes right down to the final seconds of the final jam. Vixens took the win 243-240 becoming the first Canadian team to take home the 1st Place trophy from the first ever WFTDA tournament held in Canada. They now move onto the WFTDA Championships held in Nashville, Tennessee, October 31st to November 2nd, where they will compete against the Detroit Derby Girls, (Detroit, Michigan) in the Division 2 Championship game. This is the first time that a Canadian roller derby team has made it to the Championships. You can catch the games you missed (what were you thinking?) and see the live action on wfda.tv!
