The Penultimate Game

By Wreck Therapy

Last weekend, the Sirens and Vixens headed down to Akron, Ohio to face off against Audio Assault of NEO Roller Derby. After a tough game, Sirens lost 146 to 120. Our big sisters, however, showed what they were made of, pulling off a 270 to 111 win against the Rock N Rollers.

Looking ahead, we have the Penultimate home team game coming up fast – The Slaughter Daughters will face off against Riot Squad Saturday June 28 at Kanata’s Mlacak area. Prior to this game, Sirens will challenge Roc City’s B-Sides. Sirens are hungry for a win, so be ready for some hard-hitting action!

I, for one, feel this is still not enough derby. Luckily, Ottawa’s first ever Big Derby Day is just around the corner. Here’s what we know so far:

The Big Derby Day is a FREE event which will take place at City Hall’s Rink of Dreams on Saturday, July 12 (rain date Sunday July 13). The event is planned to take place from 1-4pm, and consist of a round robin of RVRG’s home teams, playing 40 minute games each. We are also hoping to host a 20 minute Ottawa Junior Roller Derby game. There will be a platoon of Ottawa’s finest food truck vendors as well, so you can get your poutine fix at the same time. So July 12 grab 20 of your closest friends and join me downtown for an afternoon of roller derby!
