RVRG Open Tryouts
Saturday October 27th
6:30pm-10pm
Norm Fenn Gym – Carleton University
The Rideau Valley Roller Girls are holding a special tryout for experienced roller derby players and referees who would like to explore joining RVRG without going through our intensive fresh meat program.
The try-out is open to players and referees who have one year or more of scrimmage/bouting experience, who have not been off skates for more than 6 months and those who have active derby insurance.
At this tryout you will:
– Complete minimum skills testing (a mandatory requirement for a league transfer as we are a WFTDA member league)
– Demonstrate your level of skating by way of a series of drills
– Players will participate in a black and white scrimmage
– Referees will participate in the officiating of the scrimmage with current Ref Union members
Participants need to arrive by 6:30 to register and tryouts begin at 7 pm sharp.
Everyone must have all safety gear, including mouthguard:
– Skaters should bring both a white and a black scrimmage shirt with number clearly printed on the backs
– Referees please wear a shirt of any colour other than black or white
Skills assessment will done by the coaching and fresh meat committees, referees and the current team captains. Successful candidates will be notified in the week following the tryout.
Please note, this will be a private event, although RVRG members are invited to join in only for the scrimmage portion of the evening.
