Thanks for a GREAT 2011 home season!
This past 2011 season has been an extra special one for us at RVRG. During the year, we have become a WFTDA apprentice league with hopes of becoming a full WFTDA League member before the year is out. We hosted the first ever CWRDA tournament and watched as 8 fierce teams from leagues all across eastern Canada fought for the prize. We held successful summer recruitment and have a great group of fresh meat who will be ready to join the league this fall.
The RVRG Slaughter Daughters took the Beast of the East 2011 by storm to win the tournament with a hard fought battle over ToRD’s Gore Gore Girls. Not a team to rest on their laurels, the Slaughter Daughters took the spirit of the Beast and went on to finish the 2011 home season undefeated! The Slaughter Daughters currently hold the number one spot on the Canadian Roller Derby House Team rankings.
Riot Squad continued their derby evolution in 2011. A new coach and new players has seen them end their season stronger and tougher than ever. We anticipate amazing things from them in 2012!
The Rideau Valley Vixens started the season off with a bang at the 2011 Quad City Chaos tournament and emerged with a whole new perspective and direction. With 3 more games left to play, the Vixens are looking to leave their mark on 2011.
The newly formed RVRG RefU (Referee Union) hosted it’s first ever referee clinic in 2011 and helped spread knowledge of the sport and our league to the surrounding communities all the while supporting another great charity.
Rideau Valley Roller Girls would like to send out a special thanks to all our volunteers, event staff, refs and NSOs, partner charities, league sponsors, WFTDA, the amazing derby leagues we’ve played in 2011 and of course, our fans. We couldn’t do this without you!
We can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store!
